This residence is set within the lush forests of the Pacific Northwest. A previous client approached us with a desire for a calm, minimalist home shaped around the needs of their family. Unlike our previous project, which responded to the distinct landscape and climate of Hawaii, this site presented an entirely different environment and atmosphere, requiring an architectural response shaped by the forests of the Pacific Northwest.

The house is organized around the backyard pool and outdoor gathering spaces, with primary views extending toward the surrounding trees. Geometry, proportion, and scale were carefully studied and refined to balance openness with shelter, family life with retreat, and the built form with the landscape beyond. Through an iterative design process, the residence evolved into a measured composition shaped by the aspirations of the family and the quiet character of its forested setting.
