Modern Villa

Conceptual Study 2025

This study revisits a past project, reimagining what might have been built had different choices been made. The exploration draws from an existing commission that was ultimately completed in another style. While the client desired something contemporary, their vision was initially undefined.

Set within a quiet Beaverton suburb, the project was envisioned for a growing family seeking both comfort and clarity. The design takes shape in a language of restraint, proportion, and simplicity. Rectangular volumes are articulated by clean lines, their unadorned surfaces forming a calm canvas for everyday life. The architecture relies on quiet geometries and measured restraint, where form and proportion take precedence over embellishment.

Although this exercise remained a conceptual rendering, it demonstrates how simplicity and discipline can achieve far more than expected. In the words of Mies van der Rohe, the guiding principle remained clear: “Less is more.”
