Portland Triplex

Oregon, 2025 — Permitting

A client approached Anthropos Design to create a triplex in Portland, Oregon. The goal was to design spaces that would not only provide shelter but also create environments that are enjoyable to live in. Working on this project was especially exciting. Growing up, Ruslan lived in many apartments, and over time, that experience helped shape his personal preferences and inclinations in the design field.

The structure is organized into three zones. The first floor is the most public, accommodating entry and shared functions. The second floor serves as a semi-private level intended for gathering and hosting, consisting of interconnected kitchen, dining, and living spaces. The third floor contains the most private areas of the home.

Materiality and the overall structure were intentionally kept simple and straightforward in order to maintain a budget-conscious development. Currently, the project is in the permitting phase. Drawing from personal experience with the limitations of apartment living—often defined by small rooms and minimal clearances—the design aims to provide more comfortable, well-proportioned spaces where residents can truly enjoy their homes.
